Tammy Menton (46)
Group Head of Marketing and Events — Steyn City

I am a problem solver. It’s what I do and what I love.

Tammy Menton is the group head of marketing and events at Steyn City and has achieved this impressive role through hard work, commitment and passion for what she does. She first joined the team in 2011 as an independent marketing contractor and, since then, her work ethic and appreciation for her work have seen Steyn City become one of the most talked-about addresses in South Africa.

Menton has played a significant role in shaping its marketing strategy since it launched in 2015 and she has developed projects such as the Equestrian Centre, Steyn City School, and Delivering Happiness to Diepsloot. The latter is an annual campaign that gifts children in the neighbouring settlement with school bags, toys, and stationery.

She is currently involved in the Diepsloot Wetland Clean-up programme that was started in a bid to clean and conserve the area. It had become a dumping ground where rubbish and pollutants threatened the natural environment; the clean-up is focused on removing this threat. Menton has also managed a competition that promotes young design talent in South Africa called FourD and is a founding member of 7% Tribe, an organisation that empowers the next generation of South African women. And she has done all this as a single mother of three boys.
“Regardless of the task I am tackling at a specific time, I look for ways to best solve that problem in order to make my work life simpler and to offer solution-based scenarios to our clients. There is nothing better than having that ‘aha!’ moment.”

She wants to see more women sharing seats at the boardroom table, offering not only their perspectives but their insights and understanding. The recently founded 7% Tribe is an opportunity for her to amplify the narrative around women in business.
“It is a social community made up of women who understand that it is their responsibility to pave the way for future generations to succeed,” Menton says. “It is a group where access to the wisdom gained through success can be shared, and where it is every member’s pledge to be accountable to the success of women in the world of business.”
